What is "Patriotism" or a Country?

Boiled to its essence and in terms that our clients understand, it comes down to family, brotherhood, a sense of safety, and empathy and mutual solidarity with other people. To look at others and assume that they are somehow "us" even if we don't know them...yet.

Most of the adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities don't remember 9/11/2001 and don't know anyone directly impacted by that attack. Nor do most of them know Shawn's brother Kevin who died serving in the US Army in Afghanistan. But they know Shawn.... and they know the local Police, Fire, and EMTs in Riverton and that's enough.

Enough to care and to come out to remember and honor the fallen and support the living.

Every year on September 11th, clients and staff of CES in Riverton come out in support of their country, in the persons of those in Riverton who are the ones that provide them with safety and support.

The mission and vision of Community Entry Services...and the commitment to safety that would be a worthy worldview for anyone to adopt for themselves!

In the face of any national or personal trauma, it's important for people to not be left alone. It's important to grieve together and together focus on positive and productive things we can do together to make our little corner of society that much more kind, caring and healthy.

Your support for our clients makes a difference!

We are very grateful to the Police, Fire, EMTs and others in Riverton who also support us and our clients.

We're all in this together. On this anniversary, and throughout the year.
