Each adult with intellectual or developmental disabilities at CES' Jackson hole center is different.

Roxanne, the older sister, has several jobs around town including at the Hospital and a local theater. Her sister, Karla, isn't quite independent enough for work but spends her days sewing, knitting and enjoys coloring in the day-habilitation center in Jackson.

Roxanne visits her sister at the Jackson, WY day-habilitation center when not at her jobs in town. She is unable to drive but walks or bikes from her apartment to CES or rides in the CES bus. Together she and her sister have lived with CES for the past two decades.

Originally from Cokeville, WY, the sisters were diagnosed with various intellectual and developmental disabilities early on. Once CES was opened her parents explored options to get their daughters placed in the group home and day-habilitation programs.

Roxanne later learned enough skills to get some jobs and so has helped expand her skill sets. Her sister, Karla, spends her days at CES and enjoys the company of the staff and other clients.

Helping adults with a range of disabilities to live as independent and fulfilling lives as possible is what CES was founded to do back in 1975. This includes helping place them in jobs, providing housing, transportation, and day-habilitation.

CES' philosophy is client-centered and personalized. Each person's skills and interests are considered and the staff encourages clients to learn new skills, seek out new hobbies or passtimes and try new experiences like horseback riding, biking, walking etc. according to their health and degree of ability.

Roxanne helps staff with her fellow clients when she can and is always ready with a smile and encouragement. She's a good example of what is possible with good will, support and perseverance in the little things done well.
